The University of Belize and the Autonomous University of Nicaragua - Managua have teamed up to develop Belize's First National Medical School.
It is quite an ambitious goal and representatives from both schools put it in writing and signed a cooperation agreement on Monday at the UB Belmopan Campus.
Now, the next step since the agreement has been signed is to train UB faculty and medical practitioners to be able to teach the students when the Medical school is operational. The training began yesterday.
In a press release UB president Clement Sankat stated "It is a bold move for UB and revolutionary for Belize's educational sector. Our National University is leveraging a fraternal relationship with UNAN-Managua to make an incredible difference for Belizean students who wish to pursue a career in Medicine."
