Last night we told you about the 18-year-old whose body was found floating in the Belize city port. His mother said she knew it was her son’s body immediately and police confirmed it after a formal identification at a post mortem. 

Today CIB Chief Superintendent Alejandro Cowo told us that the body was cruelly and deliberately disposed of.

“Police were called to the Belize Port Authority which is located on Cesar Ridge and almost halfway off the pier and about 50ft away from the pier police saw the body of a male person floating faced down on the sea with the assistance of the Belize Coast Guard they managed to retrieve the body and upon inspection of the body it was noted that it was in an advanced state of decomposition. The body was wrapped in a sheet also had some barbed wire and cement blocks attached to the body. Later on in the day, the body of that person was identified as a missing person Micheal Reyes Cobo 18 years old of San Matteo area San Pedro Town and sometime last night a post-mortem examination was conducted on that body where at the end of the post-mortem the doctor was unable to determine what as the cause of death because of the advanced state of decomposition.â€￾

“We know that he had mentioned to family members that he was coming to Belize City to meet with some friends in the Yabra area, however, the names of those friends we have not ascertained as yet.â€￾ Due to the advanced state of decomposition the cause of death was ruled as inconclusive.
