posted (December 5, 2019)
A man was shot multiple times last night, at a stone's throw from his home in the Belize Rural area.  28 year old Gerald Lamb's family believes that he was targeted due to a case of mistaken identity. Cherisse Halsall spoke with his mother earlier today:

This is the road Gerald Lamb was driving down when he was ambushed and shot at.

Voice of Janet Dominguez - Mother of Gerald Lamb
“The vehicle that hurt Gerald was parked right over there, he didn’t know what they were up to. Gerald and a friend passed on a cycle because he went to buy phone card and when they reach there, is by the time they pass, the vehicle take from there behind them and by the time they stop to swing, the vehicle was right there and the vehicle just shove that full load in my son.â€￾

“We know there was a passenger on your son’s bike what’s the relationship between him and your son?

Voice of Janet Dominguez
“He live right here, they are good friends and my pa son was the passenger behind the person but different identity because he was somebody that look like they were wanted, having in the same plots like my son. So my son end up in that because they just pull up close.â€￾

Reporter
“Do you know if there was any threat against your son’s life?â€￾

Voice of Janet Dominguez
“No, no, no. It was not a threat because my son no fass with nobody, my son work for what he want and my son had some American people that he grow up with that send him 200 dollars a month, so he no have to fass with nobody. He work, when that first day of the month come, he go collect his money.â€￾

Police pursued the assailants and intercepted their vehicle.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB
“He is presently admitted in a critical condition at the moment. We don’t have any suspects, police receive information of a vehicle, as a result the vehicle was pursued and it was intercepted somewhere in the Burrell Boom road. The persons in the vehicle managed to flee from the vehicle and the vehicle is presently impounded at the Ladyville police station.â€￾

Gerald Lamb is currently in a critical state at the KHMH. His mother has weathered this tragedy with incredible strength but she doesn’t hold out much hope for his survival.

Voice of Janet Dominguez
“They are looking to give him up because the doctor said they can’t do anything. So that’s the state my son is in. So I’m just waiting for his twin partner, to come and visit because she lives in Roaring Creek.â€￾

Reporter
“How is the family dealing with this tragedy today?â€￾

Voice of Janet Dominguez
“Well, we just have to take it step after step. I am the mother, and I try do my best.â€￾

Twice today, she visited the scene of her son’s death perhaps a way of embracing the reality that his fight for his life may soon be at an end.

Voice of Janet Dominguez
“When I went to see the scene because then, I want to see the blood that my son bled because, he bled to zero and it was very hard for me as a mother to witness a thing like that. My son brand new slippers that he just buy Tuesday, only one foot left there. My son still has on his Christmas lights at his house because I haven’t even gone to cut it off because when I look this morning I see my son Christmas lights the dance because he said, he want to spend a nice Christmas.â€￾

But the story doesn't end there for Lamb's assailants. After abandoning their vehicle, escaping from the police, and spending a night hiding in the bushes. They hitched a ride on a dump truck this morning on the Burrell Boom road.

The Driver of that Truck became suspicious at the state of the pair, who looked very much as if they'd spent a night in a swamp.

He called the police who advised him to deliver them to Hattieville Station. Those men are now in Police custody and are the prime suspects in the shooting of Gerald Lamb.
