“On Sunday the first of December about 9:00 in the morning a family friend of Mr. Edwin Usher visited the police station and gave the police certain information and as a result, the police visited the hospital where they observed Mr. Edwin Gilbert Usher apparently dead. The information that we received was that Mr. Gilbert Usher was involved in a fight the week before. I believe it was the 23rd of November when the incident happened at a business place located on the corner of Mahogany Street and Johnson street where he was allegedly beaten by a male person. The police received that information until the time of him passing away and since then police have been conducting an investigation. One suspect is currently in custody and he is being interviewed by police. What we understand is that Mr. Edwin was purchasing food in front of a small food stall on Curassow Street when he was approached by someone who fired a single shot at him causing an injury to him. He was treated and was discharged the following day.â€￾

The one man in custody is very well known to police.
