After months of clamouring, the contract to run Belize's Boledo is going out to tender. A notice went out from Belmopan today saying that Government, quote, "invites tenders to administer the distribution, sale and marketing of lottery tickets of the Belize Government Lottery (Boledo, Jackpot Lottery and Ordinary Lottery)."
So, here's how it works. There are two rounds, first the applications will be reviewed for technical details, and the best ones will be short listed.
In the second round, the selection committee will review the financial proposals of the shortlisted bids, and a winner will be selected.
But not anyone can apply. It has to be a company with a minimum of five years' experience in management and sales with all shareholders being, quote, "fit and proper" persons - whatever that means.

Applications will be accepted between December 23rd, 2019 and January 17th , 2020.
It will be a matter of great interest to see who applies, and the current contract holder, Brad's Gaming with its know-how and asset base is likely to be considered a frontrunner, if he applies. The application notice says, "Marketing and sales experience in gaming or lotteries will be an asset."
