Benque Deputy Mayor Caught In Western Carjacking

The Deputy Mayor of Benque was carjacked yesterday morning. It happened at about 10:00 in the remote reached of the Mountain Pine Ridge Area. 56-year-old Alvaro Gongora along with his employees were working on a farm located 20 yards off of main Hydro Road when they were approached by three masked men who were armed with 2 handguns.

Those men briefly kidnapped Gongora at gunpoint forcing him to start the engine of his 2015 Ford Explorer. Once Gongora had driven the vehicle down the hill to the main road he was ordered out. The carjackers then sped off toward Arenal village - and were later seen racing through Arenal to get to the Guatemalan side of the broder. The men reportedly spoke a mixture of mayan and Spanish.

The stolen Pick up truck is valued at $12,000.00.
