There was some cross-river confusion in the area of Santa Cruz Belize and Botes Mexico today. It's a very popular illegal crossing - and one that law enforcement has been trying to shut down because of the traffic in contraband.
Today, we received reports that the BDF had lost a drone in the rio Hondo which passes through the two villages. They hired a diver to go retrieve it - and it seems that caused a commotion on the river. It culminate din a man claiming he was swimming across and the BDF tried to drown him. Here's what he told CTV-3.
There are unsubstantiated reports that there was another incident upriver.
