Gang Style Execution In PG, City Suspect
posted (December 9, 2019)
36 Year old Glenford Hines was killed in his own yard last night when another man crossed his path while running for cover. It happened in Punta Gorda town and may have been an orchestrated hit which killed the wrong man. Tonight we take you inside the chaotic hour that changed the course of the Hines family's lives forever.

Cherisse Halsall reporting
These are the desperate moments at 10:20 last night as police arrived to find Albert Valentine struggling to stay alive in the back Yard of a house on West Street. It is believed that he was the target in the shooting that claimed the life of 36 year old Glendford Hines. Valentine was shot three times and ran to this yard where he collapsed:

And while Valentine lay helpless in the Hines's yard, he had put their son in the way of a fatal bullet:

ACP Joesph Myvette
"What the police know so far is that Mr Hines was inside his yard when another male person later identified as Albert Valentine was walking on the street when he was approached by a dark complexion male person who fired several shots in Valentine's direction which caused him to run inside the yard of Mr Hinds, and as a result, both received gunshot injuries. For Mr Hinds he was rushed to the Punta Gorda hospital where he succumbed to those injuries shortly thereafter."

Somehow Valentine was still alive, and he was carted him into the back of the police pickup and the cops rushed off - their sirens painting the Punta Gorda night in the well known colors of urban warfare.

ACP Joesph Myvette
"Albert Valentine received gunshot injuries and he was treated and later transferred to the Southern Regional Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. Police are seeking one subject in relation to this investigation. They were seeking two but one of those persons is already in custody whom we believe can assist in this investigation."

That suspect was caught trying to escape from the dump area of PG in the wee hours of the morning when he was nabbed by the cops. He walked from a murder charge in October.

Cherisse Halsall:
"That person who is in custody we understand that he is from Belize city and he is known to police. Is there any indication that he went to PG to commit an execution?"

ACP Joesph Myvette
"That was not reported to us, I do not want to go into the details but yes the person detained is from Belize city."

Valentine, the shooting's sole survivor also has his own criminal record

ACP Joesph Myvette
"We also know that Valentine was to appear in court in Punta Gorda this morning to answer to several charges he had before the court."

Reporter:
"Sir what measures apart from seeking one suspect are police putting in place to ease the situation down in PG as far as I can recall there hasn't been a shooting of this nature in some months."

ACP Joesph Myvette
"Exactly, and as a result of the strategies in place the additional patrols that have been put in place hence if you do recall there was a period where there was a spike in crime in Toledo and that issue was addressed so since this incident yes patrols have been stepped up in those areas."

Hines leaves behind a wife and two sons.

Footage from the scene of this shooting used in this piece was provided by PG TV.
