There have been a string of carjackings on the HYDRO road in the Pine Ridge area in recent days. In late November American Irene Brady who claimed that she was held up in her home by two men one of whom was armed with a shotgun. Her 1998 Toyota Pickup was then stolen.
The second involved Deputy Mayor of Benque Viejo Alvaro Gongora on last week Thursday. Gongora said that he and two employees were working on his farm 20 yards off the main Hydro road when he was briefly kidnapped at gunpoint and made to start his 2001 Ford Explorer. He was later abandoned on the road while those men sped off in his vehicle.
On Saturday Alvin Chi and his family were also robbed and carjacked. Police told us about this one:
AND, this morning at 11:30 Santiago Molina, a resident of Arenal road, was carjacked while exiting the gate of his residence. He was also approached by 3 armed Hispanic masked men who he believes were Guatemalans. They stole his vehicle and drove off toward Arenal village.
