Fiery Traffic Fatality In Trinidad Village

A man on a motorcycle lost his life early this morning on the Trinidad/August Pine Ridge Road in the Orange Walk District.

He is 25-year-old Leonardo Velasquez, and he crashed head-on into a trailer that was attached to a tractor.

At today's police press briefing, the Deputy Head of the National Criminal Investigation's Branch discussed the deadly accident:

"On Thursday, the 12th day of December 2019, at around 5:30 a.m., there was a fatal road traffic accident on the Trinidad/August Pine Ridge Road in Orange Walk. Investigations revealed that Leonardo Velasquez, 25-year-old, was riding his motorcycle on the road when he collided into a trailer that was attached to a tractor. He fell off the motorcycle, and received severe head and body injuries, and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. An investigation is being conducted on this matter to determine if anyone is at fault, or if any charges will be levied on anyone."

"This investigation is ongoing. At some point, he was coming from the opposite direction and collided into the trailer."
