Lights, Camera, Selfies?
posted (December 12, 2019)

If you are a selfie queen like many of us are - (and I won't call any namesâ€Â¦) you will know that lighting is everything. Well, it goes beyond lighting in photography. Mexican photographer Esdras Castillo is in Belize offering training for Belizean photographers. He is showing the participants all the camera tips and tricks to capture the best photos. The workshop started this afternoon at the Mexican Institute in Belize City. Here is more.

Diego Sapien - Director, Mexican Cultural Institute
"It is going to be a two-day workshop for Belizean photographers in general people who are interested in photographic arts, to understand it a bit more and to do it in little tricks and manoeuvres of the camera to do it in a professional level."

Esdras Castillo - Mexican Photographer
"It is a collection of photographs I took since 2012 of Yucatan, the state next to Mexico. I have collected photos of important things not only of tourism but also of vegetation and nature as well as archaeological sites, our country is very rich with archaeological sites. We as photographers in Merida realized that photography is a modern art-form because more than 95 percent of the population in the world has access to a camera and it is the in thing right now. It is very simple to take a photo or capture a video with a cell phone and this makes the people interested in photography. And so you as a professional photographer can take great pictures because one of the things is that the person behind the camera, is the one who captures the photo and transmits what everyone else will see. So through social networks photographer can transmit beautiful things."

A special showcase of Castillo's work began at 6:00 at the institute. The workshop continues tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 and ends at 5:00.
