posted (December 16, 2019)
Tonight, Orange Walk Town is reeling after a well-known, well-liked and law abiding couple were stabbed to death in their home.

Rafael Huezo Sr and Nancy Huezo were killed sometime between Friday night and this morning - when they were found in an advanced state of decomposition. Our colleagues at CTV-3 were first on the scene - and we have this report:

Cherisse Halsall reporting
For Orange Walk residents, it was an unbelievable scene as the bodies of a well-known couple were carried out of their home on Stadium Street in body bags.

The back of a police pickup is the last place anyone would have expected to see 79 year old Rafael Huezo and his wife 59 year old Welma Nancy Huezo - respected and law abiding town residents.

Their daughter had been trying to reach them from Saturday - and when they didn't respond up to this morning - she sent her brother to check - and he made a terrifying discovery. His parents lay dead and decomposing, he, in a pool of blood in the living room with multiple stab wounds, and, she, sitting on the couch, also with multiple stab wounds:

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"It is a developing story but we know that police were called to an area on Stadium Street shortly before 10a.m. this morning whereupon arrival they discovered the bodies of two persons, a male and a female inside a home, both in a state of decomposition, an advanced state of decomposition. We know that those persons living, or the house belonged to the Huezo family and the details will be provided later on today as soon as they are had in relation to this investigation."

Reporter
"Is there any preliminary indications that these people were killed or is it indicating natural causes for dying?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"At this point in time we do not know but one of those bodies, I believe it's the female, seems to have an injury to her hand. Police is treating it at this point in time as a murder investigation and one person is being sought who is related to the family."

Now police are looking for their car, which appears to have been stolen - a green Kia Soul like this one. They believe the couple's youngest son, Mario Huezo might be able to answer some questions. He was reportedly last seen intoxicated in the yard on Friday night.

It should be noted that their son, Mario Huezo lived at the same address and his whereabouts are unknown.

Police are asking the public to look out for the green 2010 Kia Soul with Orange Walk plates. It has a dent on the front driver's side.
