Bowman’s Body Found, Closure For Family
posted (December 16, 2019)
The family of 34 year old Belmopan resident Densmore Bowman can breathe a sad sigh of relief tonight: Bowman's body was finally found this morning after 10:00 near mile 25 on the George Price Highway. A post mortem examination found that he had been chopped to death.

Sure, it's the absolute worst kind of discovery to find their loved one decomposed in a shallow grave, but for Bowman's family, it represents closure. Bowman had been missing for 17 days, from November 29th.

The family found some clues two weeks ago at mile 24 but they had no idea that if they had just walked a mile ahead, they would have found his body sooner. Courtney Weatherburne was out on the scene and has this story.

His pair of slippers, his cellphone and a strand of his long locks: those were the final missing pieces of the puzzle that led to this morning's discovery of Densmore Bowman's decomposed body at mile 25 on the Western Highway. His mother found them as she was walking along the highway.

It certainly was a surprise to find his belongings there because the search team had only been focusing on the mile 24 area where the police had found his pants, his partially burnt social security card, and a pair of socks with suspected blood on it.

Mary Coleman, Mother
"Well all I said when I found him, I call my daughter and I said to her "come' and then I call the guys and said come, I found something."

The team then canvassed the bushes on the roadside and finally found Bowman's partially buried body in a shallow grave.

"We notice the body was close, because there was a little smell. We saw a little hole and it was right there the body was."

Police, scenes of crime personnel as well as Bowman's family and friends were on the scene for several hours until early afternoon. The family identified his body and it was taken to the medical school on the Boom road for the post mortem.

Now to back track, it was reported that Densmore Bowman went missing on the afternoon of Friday November 29th after he went to pick up money from Western Union. After that, Bowman was reportedly seen socializing at a bar in the market square area until about 8:00 that night.

But that was not the end of his outing that Friday night, surveillance cameras from Lucky Entertainment store caught him inside the bar with friends. He is the guy with the long dread locks in the stripped sleeveless shirt.

He is also captured later outside, visibly drunk as he walks off.

Densmore then leaves with his friends around 11:43 pm and that was the last time he was seen alive that Friday night.

It has been such a long and torturous few weeks for the family as they searched and searched and prayed to find their loved one - now they can lay him to rest in Crooked Tree. It's a bitter sweet end for them, but they still don't have an answer as to why Bowman was killed.

Tiffany Cadle, Sister
"We are sad, but happy. Happy, because now we can take him to rest. I will take him back home where he comes from and we put him to rest and hope that those who are involved now, they can officially charge them, because first they said that they couldnt charged them, but now I guess they can charged them now and we can try and put this behind us and see how best we can move on from here."

"In terms of a motive?"

Tiffany Cadle, Sister
"We are hearing so many things, so much information. I don't know why."

Reporter
"You dont think that money would have been a...?"

Tiffany Cadle, Sister
"It is just a little bit of money. He picked up the first amount which was a hundred and seventy six dollars and the second amount was thirty dollars. It could never be for that little amount of money. We just don't know. There is so much things people are saying."

Reporter
"It was acquaintances who did this or friends?"

Tiffany Cadle
"Friends, friends. His friends."

Reporter
"Whom you haven't spoken with. They haven't come out here obviously."

Tiffany Cadle
"No. Friends. All of them. All of these people he was hanging out with are people he called friends. They go to my brother's house. Their children play with my brother's children. They are his friends. I dont know."

Mary Coleman, Mother
"My son will get up every morning and he will send me a text. He will say hi mom, or he will just say mom, just a text. Someday he said hi mom and I return back and say what do you want? He say nothing. I say because those texts is because it's oh mom can you help me with something. He said no mom, I am just texting you to let you know that I am up, I'm okay and I'm checking on you to see if you are good. Every religious morning I get that text from my son."

Now, sadly, she will never get another text message from him again.

Bowman leaves behind 5 kids. One notable aside is that Bowman's mother was scheduled to return to the US this evening had she not found her son. She is grateful that she can bury her son before she returns.
