Cops Capture Huezo In Fiery Standoff
posted (December 17, 2019)
Tonight, a man wanted for questioning about the murder of his parents is in the hospital after a showdown with police today.

Mario Huezo, the youngest son of Rafael and Nancy Huezo has been wanted from yesterday - after a sibling found the couple stabbed to death in their Orange Walk home. Mario lived with them, but he was missing and unaccounted for - along with the couple's Kia Soul car.

Mario had last been seen at the family house on Friday night - apparently intoxicated.

Police put out an all formations notice for the Kia Soul and it was spotted in Independence Village today - a short distance away from the Big Creek Port. Police pursued it - and the chase ended in a fiery showdown. Here's what passers-by captured form their cell phones while they waited for police to clear the road:

Jules Vasquez reporting
The video shows two patrol vehicles on the road to the Big Creek Port police approaching the green Kia Soul.

It's a stand off until suddenly the cops start backing off. And then the senior officer dressed in brown peers inside, and then quickly skips across the road for cover. They seem to be reacting to the sight or sound of a weapon.

From there it is a tense standoff with police taking a defensive position.

When our next video picks it up, the police have rushed into position in front of the driver's door. Reports are they fired shots to break the window and then forced open the door.

After that, they seem to be trying to remove Mario Huezo from inside.

They did and here you can see Huezo stretched across the pavement.

A picture shows he is alert, but has been injured, with visible blood trails.

As a police mobile swoops into place to carry him to the hospital.

Police have not yet issued an account of the incident - but reports say he had at least one other person in the vehicle - and they escaped into the bushes before police escalated.

Presently there are no details on the extent of his injuries or his condition. We'll have more on this story tomorrow.
