Guild Survives Ruthless Attempted Murder
posted (December 17, 2019)
A 35 year old man survived multiple shots to his body, and a graze to his head in a ruthless attempted murder last night.

At around 11:00, Christopher Guild was walking on Barrack Road, not far from his home when a gunman on a bicycle came up from behind and tried to shoot him in the head.

The well known footballer and working man - cringed at just the right moment to have the bullet graze the back of his head.

Today his brother Leon told us about his condition:

Leon Guild, Christopher's brother
"Right now he is in a stable condition. Last night the doctor informed us that none of the bullets hit any of the vital organs inside, so he is very lucky."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"He was shot 4 times though."

Leon Guild, Christopher's brother
"Right. He was grazed in the ear, so a piece of his ear is missing and the same bullet also grazed the back of his head and the bullet that went into his abdomen just slipped through all the organs and just hit muscle tissue. His lungs his punctured. His lungs had a lot of fluids in it last night, so they were trying to drain that."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"What were your thoughts when you saw that video? He just walking along the street, this guy comes up and just lets off, I mean aiming for his head by all visual indications."

Leon Guild, Christopher's brother
"When I saw the video then that's what frustrated me, just to see - the guy on the bicycle just rode up cool and calm like this is just something he has to do and just like... we become desensitize towards it, not that it has hit home."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Your brother is a working man, he is a football player, and he is an athlete, say a little about him and how out of the world this attack is?"

Leon Guild, Christopher's brother
"Well this definitely is a surprise to us, to the entire family, because my brother is not a trouble maker. He loves his football. He is very popular. He is known as "Big Chris." He goes to work every day, he is always at work. He loves hanging out with mature people, so I can't say that I know everything about my brother, but we don't know his as someone who has enemies. This is all a shock to us. We are just waiting until he recovers a bit and he is able to speak to us."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"Was he walking in an area that's familiar to him? Is that an area that he is often in? Its right Barrack Road near the junction with Pickstock Street, between Pickstock and Hydes Lane?"

Leon Guild, Christopher's brother
"He is always there, because he lives just across the street."

Jules Vasquez, reporter
"You have any idea why someone may choose to target this 35 year old working man?"

Leon Guild, Christopher's brother
"My best guess is that my brother is a ladies man, he is an athlete so that comes with the territory and that's my best guess."

Leon Guild also thanked the police for their quick response and getting his norther to the hospital.

Notably, residents in the area heard as many as 15 shots ring out around 11:00. There had also been shots fired around 8:00 in the area - which is rival turf for two gangs. Police found 17 expended shells on the scene last night.
