Last night we told you about a BDF soldier who accidentally shot himself in the leg while routinely clearing an M16 rifle.
But, today the BDF general said he did not shoot himself:
Brig. Gen. Steven Ortega, Commander, Belize Defence Force
"The guys were conducting an unloading drill and an incident happened and one of them got shot in the leg. I think he should be receiving surgery today. He is stable."
Reporter
"The injury appears very high. I know it's a long ride. Is it certain that he inflicted it to himself?"
Brig. Gen. Steven Ortega
"No, he didn't inflicted it to himself. But the matter is being investigated to ascertain all the facts in terms of how it happened and how we can prevent it in the future."
