This is actually the second time he has been acquitted of a charge. The first time is when he was was acquitted of the murder of Amandala journalist, Kareem Clarke in June.

This time he beat an attempted murder charge for the 2015 shooting of Jamilia Neal.

Neal and another woman were socializing at a shop on Caesar Ridge Road when Neal's assailant shot her in her left shoulder, her left hip and her left elbow. Neal testified and identified Waight as the shooter although she said he had a shirt over his head. Another witness testified that she did not get to see the face of the shooter because it was covered with a shirt. Waight gave a statement from the dock in which he denied that he committed the offence. He called his sister as a witness who said that at the time of the incident Waight was with her in Punta Gorda.
