Guild’s Assailant Also Shot At A Cop
posted (December 19, 2019)

Last night, we told you about the arraignment of 32-year-old Bart Lucas. He's the man who police believe was caught on camera trying to carry out a brazen execution of 33-year-old Christopher Guild.

You'll remember that the victim was walking, and going about his business, when suddenly, a man rode up on a bicycle and shoved a handgun near his head, and opened fire. Fortunately, Guild realized at the very last second that he was in danger, and he ducked quickly enough that the bullet grazed the back of his skull.

At today's police press briefing, the cops shared a few details about the failed execution, and the shoot-out that occurred between Guild's attacker, and an off-duty police officer who happened on the scene:

Supt. Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB
"On Monday, just about midnight, Mr. Christopher Gill, 35 years-old, a Belizean of a Barrack Road Address, was walking on Barrack Road, heading towards Victoria Street. [That's] when he was approached from behind by a male person, who fired shots in his direction causing injuries to him. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he is presently admitted in a stable condition at this moment."

"A police officer was coming off duty, and he was on the corner of Pickstock Street and Barrack Road when he heard the shots being fired. Upon his arrival at the junction, he saw this male person chasing the other person, and as a result, he yelled at the person to stop. The person turned, face the police officer, and fired shots at the police. In return, the police fired shots at him. Reference this shooting, police conducted an investigation, and on Wednesday, they arrested and charged Bartolomeu Lucas, a 33-year-old Belizean of Bride's Alley, for 1 count of attempted murder, 1 count of use of deadly means of harm, 1 count of dangerous harm, and one count of aggravated assault."
