Another Hummingbird Bicycle Death
posted (December 27, 2019)
And, in the weekend's other traumatic death.

54-year-old cyclist Ricardo Oh was knocked down and killed by a truck driver on Christmas Eve. It happened at mile 25 on the Hummingbird Highway - not far from Bertha's Tamales. Sr. Superintendent Hilberto Romero told us a little more:

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
"Information was that he was riding his bicycle when he was hit from behind by the truck. Thereafter he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigation is ongoing into this matter at this time. The drive of that truck was served with a NIP and the file will be forwarded to the D.P.P. for directives."

What Romero doesn't say is that the 31 year old driver from Dangriga stopped and attempted to render aid but was attacked by nearby villagers who knew Oh. So, he got out of there, and went and handed himself in to the Dangriga Police.

The truck driver has yet to be charged.
