Members of a popular band who had just played a Christmas night gig in Punta Gorda Town almost lost their lives when their vehicle flipped on the Southern Highway early on Boxing Day. It happened at around 4:00 am near Red Bank village.
Taxi driver Lloyd Alexander Savery was driving a Kia Sedona van with 8 members of the band when he lost control and overturned in a ditch. 39 year old Elroy Martinez 39 and 37 year old Lester Rivero received minor injuries.
And, this morning 40 year old former UDP city councillor BQ Pitts also flipped in his Infiniti QX 56 SUV, in an accident that happened between mile 36 and 37 on the George Price Highway.
The 40 year old was traveling alone when he had a front wheel blow out causing him to lose control and run into the metal guard rail on the highway. From there, he ran into a drain and flipped. Pitts suffered minor injuries.
