The Getaway Cars Crash
posted (December 27, 2019)
And violence refused to take a holiday on Christmas or Boxing Day. At 1:00 yesterday morning, 42-year-old Darren Ramclam was walking on Newton Barracks when he was approached by a gunman who fired shots at him. He ducked and dodged while Police pursued Ramclam's assailant. He escaped, but he didn't get away clean, because his getaway car, a maroon ford explorer, was involved in an accident with an Immigration Department van. Police gave us more details in the dramatic series of events that led to the arrest of one suspect.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB
"Police were called to A+ bar located on Newtown Barracks where they met a male person by the name of Darren Ramclam 42 years who reported that whilst he was walking on Newtown Barracks and in front of that business establishment. He was approached by a male person who fired shots in his direction causing him to fall down to the pavement receiving injuries to himself. He was taken to the hospital where he is presently listed in a stable condition, as a result, police who were in the nearby area pursued a male person who managed to escape. Shortly afterwards police were notified of a traffic accident at the corner of St. Joseph Street and St. Thomas street whereupon arrival they observed a maroon in colour ford explorer and a white van with extensive damage to both vehicles. One person was detained he was driving the maroon colour SUV."

While police mentioned A+ bar in the report the shooting did not occur within the bar but on the street in front of it.

Notably, the Immigration van in question had no known business to be out at 2:00 in the morning, as it is supposed to get moving at 6:00 am on all weekdays except Saturday. This happened on a Thursday.
