Cotton Tree Fire Caused By Electrical Fault
posted (January 3, 2020)
Mortis also discussed a New Year's Day fire in Cotton Tree village where two families comprising 11 lost everything.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon, when the fire consumed a cement bungalow.

Mortis says this one was definitely electrical:

Kenneth Mortis
"We have investigated and concluded that that fire was as a result of an electrical fault which stems from faulty extension cords which damaged and exposed the electrical wires. We try out best to detour family members from using what we refer to as the flimsy extension cords which you can buy at the grocery store for about seven dollars. You want to protect your property, protect your belongings, then you make the extra effort and buy the heavy duty extension cord that is rated to withstand additional extension cords coming off the main drop."

Today, NEMO Minister Edmond Castro gavel bunch of relief supplies to members of two extended families, Linarez-Perez and Santos-Somoza.

The supplies include mattresses and water.
