By now, you should have seen the lengthy New Year's messages from Belize's mass party leaders, Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Leader of the Opposition John John Briceno.
As the incumbent, Barrow's statement is a golden serving of sunshine, while, as the challenger, Briceno's message is like a catalogue of misdeeds, mishaps and wrongdoings by the ruling UDP.
But, he goes even further; the PUP leader accuses unnamed persons, quote, "at the highest level of the UDP government" of facilitating the landing of drug planes.
Now that's fine for corner talk, but to take it into the official reaLm, you'd need to have proof. And the PUP Leader says he has quote, "credible information." Here's his statement and the response we got today from the UDP's Attorney General, who is the government's chief legal counsel:
Political gamesmanship being what it is, we won't hold our breath for 24 hours, waiting for a Briceno press conference to spill the beans.
