posted (January 7, 2020)
He was accused of a major armed robbery, stealing 5 thousand dollars at gunpoint - but, tonight, 23 year old Malique Humes is a free man. And it's all because the witness got scared; reports say she was threatened.

The charge goes back to June of 2018, when a lone gunman walked up to the Midway cashier inside Sky City Supermarket in Ladyville. The cashier was going to make a deposit next door at the Atlantic Bank, when the gunman appeared and took almost $5,000 in cash.

But, today in court, Corporal Christopher Smith informed the court that police could not locate the cashier - who quit her job after the traumatic robbery. The court also learned that the cashier was threatened allegedly by the accused, but fearing for her life, she fled the country to the United States.

No report of the allege threat was made to police so Humes was never charged with the offense of suppression of evidence. r.

Another charge for aggravated assault with a firearm upon first responder Joshua Trapp was also dropped.

Humes did still face one offense: rode bicycle without a bell. For that he changed his plea from not guilty to guilty and was fined $50 plus $5.00 cost of court.
