Chester To Media: Get Your Priorities Straight
posted (January 8, 2020)
22-year-old Giovanni Lambey made the news earlier this week when his uncle spoke about the brutality he claimed police had inflicted on his innocent nephew. He said his nephew had never been charged for any crime and it was an outright abuse.

Well, today Lambey contradicted any notion of his innocence when he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm.

The charge arises from the January 6th attempted shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

Magistrate Emerson Banner fined Lambey $2,000, half of which he has been ordered to pay by March 31, with the balance due by April 30th.

Today, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams scolded the media for entertaining the Uncle who had a litany of complaints against the police.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"You see sometimes the media need to not entertain everybody that comes to them with foolishness. The young man I saw on the TV complained that police brutalizes his nephew, that was the same nephew who went and emptied a barrage of bullets at the hoe of an elderly lady trying to shoot somebody. Now, he went home, police went there, upon seeing the police he ran and the police pursued him, caught him and yes a little force might have use to subdue him and here comes his uncle complain about police brutality? What if he had caught that young man and killed him? Really? Man, sometimes we need to learn and tell people get their priority straight."

As you heard, Lambey has until April 30th, to pay the fine, and if he fails to do so, he will serve 2 years at the Belize Central Prison.
