The UDP National convention is weeks away, and tonight we can report that the field of candidates for executive posts is narrowing. Two notable party personalities announced today that they are stepping aside.
Senator Dr. Carla Barnett who was one of three persons vying for National Chairman this evening announced that she is withdrawing her candidacy. She would only say she withdrew for personal reasons. That leaves Mike Peyrefitte and John Castillo in that race.
And, the UDP's divisional chairman for Dangriga, Clifford Peters - who was vying for National Deputy Chairman withdrew his candidacy this morning. "Boss P" as he is known, told us he is too busy attending to his own personal business enterprise to go out and campaign. Alberto August and Khalid Belisle remain in the race for Deputy Chairman.
