Minor Will Be Charged For Grisly Peninsula Murder
posted (January 9, 2020)

Last night we told you about the brutal killing of Mexican property manager 46-year-old Gabriel Guzman Cruz. It's a harrowing story, one that has spooked the residents of Seine Bight and neighbouring Placencia.

Yesterday, Commissioner Chester Williams, indicated that police were seeking a minor who they believed could aid in the investigation.

And today Superintendent Alejandro Cowo told us that a pair of brothers, one of whom is a minor, is likely to be charged for Guzman's murder by tomorrow:

Alejandro Cowo - Supt. OC, CIB
"I think two persons are detained one is a minor, I think that he will be charged sometime this evening and the other person, depending on the outcome of the investigation so he might be charged later on tomorrow if anything but one of them I think definitely will be charged today. I surely believe that the police that are posted at those locations there, they know who are the persons hence the reason they went ahead and conducted a search at this residence day before yesterday where they found some belongings and the two suspects were detained."

Reporter
"Are you able to say if those items belong to the victim or were those items that were part of the property that he was taking care of."

Alejandro Cowo
"Well, I believe they are property of the victim."

Cherisse Halsall
"Sir could you tell us the nationalities of the person detained?"

Alejandro Cowo
"They are Belizeans."

Reporter
"And the two persons detained are relatives?"

Alejandro Cowo
"Yes, they are."

Reporter
"Brothers, father and son, are you able to say?"

Alejandro Cowo
"I'm not sure, I think they're brothers."

A Postmortem conducted this morning indicated that Guzman died as a consequence of his throat being cut.
