And while the community can pat itself on the back for working with the police to capture this suspect, there's no celebration for the Lavern Longsworth, she is Kenrick's mother.
If her name seems familiar it's because she was much in the news about 10 years ago. That;That's after she set her then common law husband on fire, causing injuries that led to his death.
She was convicted of murder in 2012, but, had that reduced to manslaughter - and got out of jail on time served in 2016. The conviction was reduced to manslaughter because her attorneys convinced the court that she suffered form battered women's syndrome.
And now her son - who is very well known to police - faces a murder charge. She got to talk about it when she was detained yesterday - on the suspicion of harboring him.
She was released this morning and we met her in front of the police station this afternoon; she had taken food for her son - even though she did not condone what he did. She spoke to us off camera:
