Nurse Assoc. Exec Member Not Happy With Task Force

Last week, we told you about the dispute between the nursing profession and the bosses at the Ministries of Health and Public Service.

The nurses are calling on these two ministries to speed up the process of identifying the professional who will be hired for the post of Deputy Director of Health Services. As we told you, the Deputy Director is also the Chief Nursing Officer. According to those who are familiar with the profession, the Chief Nursing Officer is important to the nurses because the holder of this office becomes the advocate for their concerns. The current Deputy Director of Health Services is on the way out, and no succession plans were put in place to find a suitable replacement.

That's but one of 5 issues that the nurses have with the current state of affairs with the profession.

They are all important issues, but a member of the nursing profession is taking issue with the Task-Force, and 4 of these 5 matters.

He's Andrew Baird, a nurse at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, and came to our studio to assert that this task-force wasn't chosen through a democratic means. He also says that 4 out of these 5 demands are self-serving, and does not address what he thinks are the real problems facing the profession. Here's how he explained why:
