Kareem Says Dalla and Shyne Settling; Shyne Says No
posted (January 16, 2020)

On Tuesday we told you that DJ Dalla was suing Shyne - unbelievable because they are both leadings lights of the UDP.  It's the hard-pay scandal that has rocked the burgeoning Belizean entertainment industry this week. That's because Dalla claims that, not only did Shyne fail to pay him his MC fee, but the Music Ambassador "south-ed" him on the event's bar with a consignment for 30 grand in Dalla's name.

On Tuesday Shyne told us that when it comes to payments made for Music Week he has all his receipts.

But this morning DJ Dalla's Attorney Kareem Musa gave us an update on the case and a settlement that, according to him, was on the table:

Kareem Musa - Attorney-At-Law
"I have an update to report this morning I spoke to my client and he has informed me and I would presume that it is because of you good people the media that some sort of settlement is brewing and that in fact, they might be taking on and when I say they it is because Mr Barrow has approached via an intermediary to settle the matter they will be taking on the payment as far as I'm aware that is the proposed settlement to Belize Brewing company. And so the remainder of the terms are left to be sorted out because as I said there are additional damages that we would be seeking but in terms of the very easy political points that I could score right now I will restrain from doing so because at the end of the day I am a professional and I was retained to do something in my professional capacity."

"There are a lot of offshoots a lot of damages that occurred subsequent to that including some loss of other sponsors due to this incident. So like I said I don't want to delve too much into that but there are subsequent damages that flowed from that one incident. I would agree with you that ordinarily something like this especially if it is being settled probably should not make the media rounds but because of the parties involved, we're talking here about a possible area representative. Somebody who wants to represent the people, that is why it's gained so much public attention because people want to know that they are electing people of integrity and responsibility."

Shyne Barrow in a statement issued this evening said that quote: "Kareem Musa has not notified me or my lawyer of any action to commence nor has any claim been filed against me in any court. Thus, there has been no settlement nor discussion of settlement of a nonexistent claim. Dj Dalla is completely responsible for his consignment."

Shyne also urged Musa and his client to refrain from trying potential cases in the media.
