Hon. Julius Says Belize’s Caesar Stands Exposed
posted (January 17, 2020)
So, Prime Minister Barrow has twice publicly committed to act against whichever minister is implicated, and to stay on as long as is necessary to maintain the stability and integrity of government. And those positions drew criticism and unlikely support from two PUP reps today.

First was Cayo South Rep Julius Espat. He spoke on the adjournment, saying that Barrow's sound and fury against corruption is just rhetoric:

Hon. Julius Espat, Area Representative, Cayo South
"All we'll get is the rhetoric and the ridiculous downright shameful defense and justifications coming from him, but no proper action, just blah, blah, blah. The prime minister tries to sell himself off as this glorious saintly innocent correct golden alter boy of a leader. That's what he tries to come across as, but the truth is that his cheap gold-plated mascara that he uses is now melting away in front of everybody and we are all witness to this whenever he opens his mouth, nobody believes him anymore, it's just a bunch of hot air coming out from his mouth."

"Mr. Speaker, my grandmother used to say "Dime con quien andas y… quien eres." And that comes to mind when I reflect on the honorable member from Belmopan who is the Minister of National Security. It roughly translates, "Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are." There's another phrase Mr. Speaker, "Birds of a feather flock together." Mr. Speaker, every time somebody that is corrupt comes into the Belizean national TV scene, it is always a person that is friendly to the Minister of National Security. They eat together, they play together, they fly together, I wouldn't want to talk about they sleep together, I wouldn't know about that one. They do everything together and then all of a sudden and every single time the response is, "I don't know." I see you're smiling Deputy Prime Minister."
