He's the Minister of Transport, but that didn't save Edmond Castro on the George Price highway today when he violently rear ended a pickup - causing major damage to the front end of his Range Rover.
Best information says that around 3:00 pm, the westbound Ford Ranger pickup was turning left 100 feet before the Coast Guard junction. But - reports suggest - he didn't pull over to the shoulder of the road to turn - but stayed right in his lane on the highway.
Minister Castro's vehicle which was coming right behind applied its brakes but could not stop in time. The impact smashed the front end of his Range Rover - which has private plates - and launched the pickup off the highway. It landed in a ditch swung in the opposite direction. Both drivers received no serious injury and were walking around at the scene.
Castro refused our request for an interview - as did the other driver. And though he is believed to have been driving, this could not be confirmed. Police and traffic personnel responded and we hope to have more tomorrow.
