A Mennonite daredevil is recovering tonight after a scary accident yesterday. It was an annual motocross event at Spanish Lookout where riders perform stunts and jumps on a specially designed track.
But, as this cell phone video shows, the young rider seems to have misjudged his speed, and went way too high on a jump - about 20 feet in the air, and, then on the descent, he did a sharp nosedive, and was flung to the ground, as the unmanned motorbike hopped along.
Bystander thought he was dead, but he survived - and reports say he did not fracture his spine of his skull.
A friend who spoke to the young man's father says he only has a pair of severely bruised lung so he has a breathing tube and will be sedated for 5 days.
He has no broken bones and his lungs are not punctured. He is expected to be hospitalized for two weeks.
