Should UDP Postpone Nat’l Convention?
posted (January 20, 2020)
But, with all this uncertainty swirling, should the UDP postpone its National Convention on February 9th? After all, the evidence in the case could implicate one of the two men aspiring for leadership.

Today, Peyrefitte - who will be endorsed as Chairman said no delay is necessary:

"Are you able to say if delaying the convention is something the UDP is looking at in light of the fact that there are variabilities with the 2 potential candidates for leader since there is this pending issue out there about who was receiving money from Mr. Lev Dermen?"

Hon. Michael Peyrefitte
"Well I don't know about variabilities. I don't see why we should postponed it. The general elections are due at the latest November 2020. Pushing back our internal leadership contest I don't think would make much sense at this point. We think we press forward. We cannot assumed that any name will be called or any minister's name will be called. We don't know that yet. We have to wait for that trial to play out and until then we cannot put the leadership of the country and the leadership of the party on pause because of a case that's going on in United States. I think we should just forward as planned."
