PETAL Wants Anti-Discrimination Conversation Widened
posted (January 20, 2020)
The anti-discrimination bill proposed for passage in the early months of this year has fuelled spirited national debate. The consultations traveling nationwide have drawn crowds. But, so far, the attention has centered predominantly on the religious community - particularly the evangelical churches.

Particularly large crowds were observed in belmopan and punta gorda for the events held in those municipalities. simone hill activist of petal - promoting empowerment through awareness for les/bi women today shared the concerns of her organization. Hill said that while all have a right to share their views and advocate for the consideration of their recommendations, it should not be ignored or forgotten that the anti-discrimination bill actually represents benefits for all - socially, economically, culturally and otherwise.

She dropped by today to chat with us about the facebook post made by her organization - petal.

Hill is fearful that the large crowds and the heated passionate voices will drown out others and fears the consultations are being hijacked.

Of course, we respect that there are a vast plurality of views, and we plan to represent all of them.
