San Pedro Man Charged For City Home Invasion

Police have charged one of the men who they say is responsible for a home invasion at a King's Park home in December.

24 year old Demas Zelaya, a woodcarver from San Pedro, was charged with aggravated burglary for entering the home of businessman Kishore Lulwani.

When he appeared today before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts Anderson. Zelaya pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was denied bail and he was remanded because the offence was committed with a firearm. His next court date is March 25.

At 4:30 a.m. on December 13, 2019. Lulwani, who resides at the corner of fourteenth and D Street, was awakened by a loud bang. When he got up he saw three masked men in his bedroom one of them with a pistol.

The men demanded money and he handed over $8,000 dollars. The men also stole an assortment of jewelry, and his 2015 Toyota Rav 4 SUV.

Police identified Zelaya as one of the culprits based on fingerprints lifted from the scene. The police sent out a wanted notice for him, and and yesterday he handed himself over to the police in the presence of his attorney, Oscar Selgado. The other two suspects are still at large.
