Police Looking Into Audit
posted (January 22, 2020)
And while the Prime Minister has acted swiftly to terminate Longsworth - who - it is widely believed - was given that cushy diplomatic posting as a political reward for stepping aside for Tracey Taegar Panton in 2015 - what about the allegation of the embezzlement of almost half a million dollars by a Sports council staffer - a senior pay clerk - during the period under review?

Will the police take action? That's what we asked the COMPOL today:...

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I have appointed an investigative team headed by Inspector Aban. That team is working very closely with the FIU. We have obtained a number of documents that were highlighted in the Auditor General's report and we are putting together a file and when we have put together that file it will be sent to the director of public prosecutions for her direction on the matter."

Notably, the pay clerk in question - Ivan Ayuso was charged for the arson of the Paslow Building - allegedly to cover up a monetary impropriety. He was acquitted of that charge in 2005.
