Salvadorean “Terrorist” Caught in Bella Vista
posted (January 22, 2020)
On Monday we told you about an operation launched by the Special Branch Unit of the Police Department in Bella Vista Village.

That operation lead to the capture of 25-year-old Franklin Manfredo Mendoza, a man wanted in Salvador for what is being termed "organized terrorism"

And this afternoon Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told us that Mendoza was up to his old tricks in the northern village, organizing gangs.

Jules Vasquez:
"Sir I understand that you all caught a high profile Salvadorean in the village of Bella Vista earlier this week, what can you share about that?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yes, I know we had a Salvadorian who was wanted for I think local terrorism in Salvador. We have contacted our Salvadoran counterparts. They have confirmed that he is wanted and the matter is now in the hands of immigration. We are hoping that they are going to expel or give him an OTL and get him out of the country to go back to Salvador, and may I say that as we look at the expansion of gangs across the country we have now assigned two members of the anti-gang task force in Dangriga and they will be working on going after those gang members in the Stann Creek district and primarily in the Bella Vista area."

Jules Vasquez:
"Was he organizing gangs in Bella Vista."

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"From what we understand, yes."

Jules Vasquez:
"Might that have had anything to do with the shooting over the weekend, in that area?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We think the shooting is different, it's between two different persons that was more domestic."

Mendoza has known associates in the area who reportedly work as seasonal labour for banana farms.
