Council of Churches Considers Equal Opportunity
posted (January 22, 2020)
The Special Envoy for women and children, Kim Simplis Barrow, is doing her part to sensitize the public to the draft of the proposed Equal Opportunities Bill. We told you about the media breakfast she hosted in partnership with the National Aids commission yesterday.

Today she met with the Belize Council of churches in an attempt to address their concerns.

And, in a press release this afternoon the Belize Council Of Churches stated that while today's discussion resolved some concerns, their review of the draft bill is ongoing. They also stated that they anticipate further discussions with Mrs Barrow, Representatives from the Ministry of Human Development, and the National Aids Commission.

We note that the National Evangelical Association of Belize has been far less reserved. That group has outrightly slammed and rejected the bill.
