Narco Plane In Payne’s
posted (January 27, 2020)
And while cops in the West made that bust, try as they might, police in the south could not get anything from a narco plane that landed in the remote reaches of Payne's Creek National Park in the Toledo District.

The plane landed at about 11:00 on Saturday night - and it would be almost another twelve hours before police got there - because the area could not be accessed by land.

The head of National Crimes told us what they found when they got there:

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head
"On Saturday, police were called to the Payne's Creek area in the Toledo District whereupon arrival they observed a twin engine aircraft almost completely burned in an area where apparently a makeshift airstrip was recently constructed. So far no one has been detained and no other items have been found in that area. It is a very remote area that this aircraft discovery was found in."

Reporter
"Sir, now we know that there was presumably a sea component because we are told the area is so remote it can only be accessed by sea."

ACP Joseph Myvett
"Yes, that is correct."

Reporter
"Was there any interface with the coastguard to try and apprehend these persons?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"Yes, there was a coast guard patrol that was deployed to the area. I believe at the same time the police were on land making their way to the area along with the B.D.F., but so far no other item was found in that area."

Reporter
"We've received reports of planes landing in Mexico and Guatemala as well and in Belize."

ACP Joseph Myvett
"Yeah, we can say that, I do not have the facts at this time but I know that there was a seizure in Guatemala and one in Mexico in relation to aircrafts over the weekend."

Reporter
"Is this something you all area aware of through regional intelligence that it is the season for them to push more drugs?"

ACP Joseph Myvett
"Well we do not know if it is the season other than to say that we are coordinating with our regional partners in the fight against drugs."

As you heard drug planes also landed in Peten and Quintana Roo this weekend. In both cases, drugs were recovered.
