And What Do the Youths Have To Say?
posted (January 28, 2020)

Last night, we told you about the Spouses of Caricom Leaders Action Network meeting in Belize in partnership with the Office of the Special Envoy for Women and Children.  They hosted a forum for Adolescents and Youth - and day 2 was set aside to hear from the youths on key topics such as HIV AIDS, Adolescent Pregnancy, Gender-Based Violence, Cervical Cancer, Mental Health and Climate Change. Cherisse Halsall attended and spoke to the panelists about the issues they brought to the forum's forefront.

At the end of the day the panellists agreed on several measures to confront the multitude of issues discussed, these included the creation of a website as an open and safe space to ask questions, express feelings, get advice, and receive information on mental health.

Panelists also agreed that the HPV vaccine is an essential health measure and that sexual and reproductive health practices should be integrated into the school curriculum.
