Cop Purses Robbers, Gets Shot At
posted (January 30, 2020)

A cop on a motorcycle had to dodge live fire yesterday afternoon - as he was trialing a suspect vehicle. 47-year old police constable William Woodye dodged the bullets, but lost control of his cycle, crashed into a parked vehicle, and fell to the pavement.

And today, the head of CIB, Superintendent Alejandro Cowo told us that the car, a black or blue vehicle, from which shots were fired was a getaway car escaping a robbery:

Alejandro Cowo - Supt. OC, CIB
"Yesterday just about 2 pm police constable William Woodaye was on his motorcycle on Mapp street en route to North Front Street when he observed a vehicle passing beside him a suddenly he heard what appeared to be a gunshot as a result of that he lost control of his cycle and fell to the pavement. Fortunately he was unhurt, he was treated and he was discharged on the same evening. What we have gathered is that police was dealing with a robbery that was taking place somewhere by Simon Lamb street and the vehicle, its suspected, fled from that location. And it was the same time that Mr. Woodaye was taking a turn from Freetown into Mapp street when he came in contact with this vehicle. Yes we have footage that we have viewed and we are looking for a Black or blue in colour vehicle at this time."
