Questions Around Can' s Killing In Concepcion
posted (February 3, 2020)

The Cano family in Concepcion also wants justice for their brother, Daniel. He met his death at the house of a neighbour and friend. Now, we examine the series of events that led to his fatal stabbing.

And Shortly after the break of day, the village of Concepcion saw bloodshed once again. Antonio Andersen could never have believed that the actions of his visiting nephew would turn his yard into a murder scene.

Antonio Anderson - Friend of the deceased
"Well we were socializing at my house we were good we were having a good moment and we were drinking a couple of beers and he was there, right, ok when the young man got there who is my nephew right, he arrived with his car and then he entered the house and he was there and I even introduced the to of them and they were socializing and there were two of my sister’s in-law watching TV and the guy that did this he went to see one of my sister’s in law because they have a baby."

But what could have turned a relaxing Sunday night into a fatal flash of violence? Anderson believes it might have been a fit of jealousy triggered by a misunderstanding.

Antonio Anderson
"Maybe he thought that because he went to see his girlfriend or something like that he may have gotten jealous because before he left he told me, he told one of my sisters in law that 3 6 left and he said tomorrow we are going to drink it tomorrow we’re going to drink the 3. The man told me I’m going home and I told him it’s okay then and he told me to give me two more beers one for the road and one for when I reach home I’ll drink it and I entered my house. When I came out I saw that the deceased was with my wife he was standing."

"But then I saw that he couldn’t move and I said what happened to you Daniel and he didn’t answer me and when I see he dropped down. Before he dropped down I saw when my nephew was coming towards him. So I pushed him and I told him if you came here only to cause trouble to leave my house, right, I chased him out and then hen the man dropped I got in a hurry and I went to see what happened. When he dropped he only told me two times. He stabbed me. He only told me he stabbed me and then I picked up the man and I was shaking him, Daniel please don’t leave me, don’t leave me, we are here stay with us and I was shouting for help for people to come out and help."

Police are calling this case a death investigation, today they told us that the DPP will have to direct them as to what charge should be levied.

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero - NCIB
"An investigation was conducted which revealed that he was at a residence in Concepcion village and he was involved in a fight with another male person who inflicted the injuries on him. On person is in custody, an investigation has been conducted, statements were recorded, interviews done and we will forward to the DPP for directives as to what the charge should be."

Anderson was the first to report his nephew’s crime to the police. Distraught and in shock, he urged the cops to catch Daniel Cano’s murder before he could flee.

Antonio Anderson
"And my sisters came out they try to help me and one of them take a foot, next one take the next foot and take him out as we could in front of the house in my mother in law yard and people came there and they were all trying to do something. We put water on his head, alcohol. He was already gone with his car and as we reach to the hospital I told the, maybe the guy will try to run away, he live right there and try to catch the man before he goes."

And today when Daniel Cano’s sister met Juan David Mendez’s mother at the morgue the older woman told the younger one that during the struggle Daniel had called Juan David’s name in the hope of assistance. The two men lived just a stone's throw from each other and Daniel had yet to find out that his friend had been murdered.

Police have suspects in custody for both cases and are expected to bring charges shortly.
