Faber Throws Shade On Colleagues Who Saw A Diplomat In Dermen
posted (February 4, 2020)
And while Faber is careful not to try and tie any of his cabinet colleagues directly to Dermen, he makes it clear that he is not the guy who recommended him for any type of diplomatic post.

The media asked today what any Cabinet member could have seen in the Armenian investor to nominate him as an honorary consul:

Reporter
"What did your government see in Lev Dermen, what would he have been able to offer your government that your government felt that he could have been given a diplomatic position in the United States?"

Hon. Patrick Faber, UDP Deputy Part Leader
"Honestly, I don't know. I don't have that kind of information or knowledge about what kind of business he was engaged in at all. I was not a part of making a recommendation for him to be not an ambassador or an honorary consul. I don't know of that business until it was made public that this was the case. I cannot say that I know of any value or what characteristics or traits or what resources or whatever he would have brought to the table in order for us to consider him favorably. That is not something that I would know."

As has been widely reported, Housing Minister Michael Finnegan recommended Dermen to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when he inquired about being honorary consul to Las Vegas. When the US rejected that, John Saldivar then allegedly pressed the Ministry to revisit it.
