Caribbean Free Of Coronavirus
posted (February 4, 2020)
Tonight we can report that the Central American and Caribbean regions have no case of novel Coronavirus.

That said, the death toll in the global health emergency continues to rise with the second confirmed fatality, outside of mainland China, confirmed yesterday in Hong Kong.

The Ministry of Health, in an effort to guide Belize's national response, had a surveillance meeting with all the regional surveillance teams to provide an update on the global and regional situations. Officials are also actively following up on all rumoured cases including the two recent cases in Corozal that came back negative for the Novel Coronavirus.

The Ministry reiterates that the best way to reduce the spread of viruses and minimizing infection is by practising proper handwashing hygiene, covering the nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing, and avoiding contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms.
