Taiwan WHO?
posted (February 5, 2020)
Last night we told you that the Central American and Caribbean regions remain free of novel Coronavirus cases

And, tonight the Ministry of Health is supporting China's neighbor Taiwan in its ongoing efforts to respond to the outbreak. The Ministry in a press release today advocated for Taiwan's full involvement in international Consulting at the World Health Organization stating that: "Taiwan's experience in global infectious diseases can certainly benefit the entire region and their voice and participation at WHO must, therefore, be guaranteed."

Taiwan is not a WHO member due to China's objections, which says the island is a wayward Chinese province and adequately represented by Beijing at the WHO. Taiwan says it is not and has never been part of the People's Republic of China.

As we told you, Yesterday, Belize in an effort to guide our own national response, had a surveillance meeting with all the regional surveillance teams to provide an update on the global and regional situations. Plus TvTspoke to Russel Manzanero, Epidemiologist at the Ministry of Health, and he broke down some of the meetings key talking points.

On Tuesday Taiwan told the world that: "vile" China was preventing it from getting timely information about the coronavirus outbreak.

China told the WHO on Monday that it had shared full information about the coronavirus with Taiwan, and that outbreak communication had been "smooth" between the two sides. But Taiwan's says the information they have received has been very limited. The country also claims that they have been unable to get information in a timely way.
