Robbers Couldn’t Run Away
posted (February 6, 2020)
Tonight, Corozal Police are getting ready to charge 2 men who were caught while trying to flee from the grocery store they had just robbed.

Just after midday yesterday, two armed, masked culprits barged into Henry's Store, which is located on College Road in Corozal Town. They held up the cashier and snatched about two thousand dollars in cash.

The two men then ran out the entrance of the store and tried to escape on separate bicycles. But, the cops responded immediately and were able to detain the robbers and recover some of the stolen money.

This morning, the deputy head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch shared a few more details about the incident:

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero - Deputy Head, NCIB
"On Wednesday, the 5th day of February 2020, around 12:40 p.m., police responded to a robbery report at Henry's Store on College Road, Corozal District. Upon their arrival, they met a complainant, who reported that 2 armed masked men came to the store, pointed firearms at him, and stole an amount of cash. Thereafter, the male persons fled from the area, and whilst fleeing from the area, they fired a gunshot whilst they were crossing one of the streets. Quick police response led the detention of two suspects in San Antonio Village, and an amount of cash was found on one of the persons. Both persons are now in custody, and an investigation continues into this matter."

The two robbers will be formally arrested and charged, and they will be arraigned in the Corozal Magistrate's Court at the earliest convenience.
