Victimized By Robber, Exposed As Counterfeiter

27-year-old Darnell Puerto was robbed at the corner of Vernon and Mopan streets on Friday. Puerto was able to identify the robber as 19-year-old Kenyon Flores but while Flores was charged with robbery today, Darnell Puerto also received a charge, Not for robbery, but for possession of counterfeit US currency. twenty-nine twenty dollar bills to be exact.

Puerto had been spending the counterfeit cash for over a week and when he hit Vibe nightclub on Saturday, the day after his robbery, he was said to be flashing money extravagantly enough to attract the attention of the police.

And when they checked Puerto's US dollar bills they were found to be fakes. No plea was taken from Puerto when he was arraigned on the charge today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. He was released on a bail of $3,000 and his case was adjourned until April 17.
