Police have charged Arianna Jones' boyfriend, 23-year-old Jahvan Moody with her murder. As we reported, Moody allegedly stabbed American national Jones to death and then covered her body with a mattress. As you saw in the story, Jones's neighbours heard screams coming from her apartment in the hours that preceded her death. 

And today Moody was arraigned in Belmopan's magistrate court for the crime of murder. We spoke to his Attorney Hurl Hamilton and he told  PLUS TV that Moody is denying the allegations:

Also in court was Jeff Coats, another of Arianna Jones's friend's, incensed and visibly distraught Coats told us that he intends to be present at every possible hearing leading to Moody's possible conviction:

"Arianna has been seeing this guy, I didn't know that I went to the States and came back and when I came back someone just recently told me that, since Christmas, he's been around in her life."

"So he's not just a random stranger to her?"

"Not a random stranger, no. She was a nice person to him, she was respectful to him, they were just in Pine Ridge last week because she took him up there. That dude treated her F----d up man, Friday night, what he did and then all this court stuff and crying now, and acting like he's sorry and all this. I understand that kids make mistakes. I get it, I've had a rough past myself, I get that, but four days later hugging your mom and crying and all that when you just killed a girl, when you just killed a girl!"

"So he's saying that he was framed, sir."

"He wasn't framed, that dude, there was noise that night at he took her car drove to F----G Belize City, came back, dropped his cousin off or something from the video, came back went back to the house they saw him pull up to the house and then he went to the police station, come on man, like where there's smoke there's fire and that fool killed that girl. I don't care about any kind of oh I'm sorry. I'm being set up, what about the bite marks on him."

"For this to be the way that she goes out and to hear some dude now he wants to say because he gets maybe some advice from a lawyer or something or maybe his mom or his grandma, to say whatever like I get it, you're in trouble, you're caught, your cracked, you're done. So your gonna come up with any kind of story to try to get out of it, take responsibility, you want to be a man after you commit a murder and kill a girl, take responsibility give some peace to the mom and dad, give some peace to the family: the sisters, the brothers, everybody, that's what you do, you wanna be a man, be a man and do that. My plan is to be at every M-----------G hearing that, that dude is in, that's my plan."

Moody returns to court on the thirteenth of April.   Notably, police recovered the murder weapon, which was a knife, and also noted that Jones had a cut on his finger and blood in his ears and in his hair.
