Wanted Man in Belize Arrested in Honduras
posted (February 13, 2020)

News reports out of Honduras are that the 38-year-old Belizean, Rodwell Arzu, who was wanted by Belize Police in connection with the 2019 murder of 41 year-old Geraldine Flowers, has been captured in Puerto Cortes.

Viewers may remember the disturbing murder of Geraldine Flowers. On the morning of July 28, 2019, Flowers reportedly allowed Arzu to enter her home in the New Site area of Dangriga Town. He has been identified as her ex-common-law husband, and the two reportedly had a protracted history of domestic violence. She decided to speak with him, and somehow, that discussion escalated into a quarrel, and later to her murder. She was fatally shot and stabbed. Her cousin, 36-year-old Samuel Reid, who was asleep in another bedroom in the house, reportedly tried to rescue her, but he ended up being shot and stabbed.

Well, police told us today that they are in the process of trying to get Arzu transferred back to Belize, where he will be investigated for these crimes. Here’s what the Deputy Head of the National Criminal Investigations Branch had to say about the case today:

Police information is that Arzu has familial ties in Honduras, and that’s how he was able to escape them.
